Indie Thursday: Model City Polish

As some of you know I love to go on a lot. I'm part of a community there called Reddit Lacqueristas, they share their creations, sales, info, anything related to nails. I happened upon a post of someone starting their own indie polish line. So I got in contact with them because I was dying to try their polish out. This post is dedicated to Model City Polish!

I decided on three that caught my eye, which was hard to do because she has tons of gorgeous polishes. From left to right: Puttin' On The Ritz, Attack Of The Purple People Eaters and Teal Me Up.

Puttin' On The Ritz is full of black and silver square glitters. The silver glitters are slightly holographic, which is pretty.

I had tried layering Puttin' On The Ritz on top of a hot pink, but it didn't really look good. So I put it on top of O.P.I Pink Friday. I only did one layer, so the coverage is amazing! For some reason the combination of the pink and black make me think of some type of 50's themed nails.

Attack Of The Purple People Eaters is stuffed with different shades of purple hex glitters. And also has some holographic glitters!

I paired it with Essie Play Date. The two purples compliment one another. I used one coat, so again the coverage is perfect. The little holographic bits make it really gorgeous.

Teal Me Up is a teal jelly base, with tiny teal square glitters and bigger black square glitters. I love anything that has a jelly base, so this one was calling to me.

I used Nicole by O.P.I My Lifesaver because I didn't want to darken the teal too much. I am in love with this one, its so beautiful. One coat again, she is good at packing glitter because I always get good coverage.

All in all I'm really impressed with the quality of Model City Polish. And I'm certainly going to purchase more in the future. I suggest you check her out!

Super Haul!

So today I found an amazing beauty supply store down the street that had a HUGE bin full of half off O.P.I, Essie, Zoya, etc. I immediately sat on the floor next to it and spent around twenty minutes to dig out some gems! My camera didn't pick up the colors properly, but I was so excited to share my finds that I didn't care.

I was able to find some of the O.P.I Pirates Of The Caribbean collection. From left to right: Stranger Tides, Skull & Glossbones and Sparrow Me The Drama. I wasn't able to find Planks A Lot, which is one I was lemming after.

I was also able to complete my Nicki Minaj Collection! Left to right: Did It On 'Em, Pink Friday and Rally Pretty Pink. I think the last one is from the Serena Glam Slam Collection.

And I found these two, which are brands that I actually have never owned before! Sparitual Crystal Eyes and Dare To Wear Disco Ball.

I was also able to find a prize of two polishes for my next giveaway! Which will be when I reach 250 followers. There will be two prizes. Here is a preview:

Above The Curve Funilla Icing

I wanted to share this lovely polish from a new indie maker I recently found. Above The Curve polish is pretty new, I found this lovely polish she had posted on Copious. As I recall the full name listed was "I'm Indie Mood For...Funilla Icing", which is just an adorable name!

Here is a close up shot. Its a creamy white base filled with matte rainbow hex glitters. It looks so sweet and full of sprinkles!

I did two coats on top of a clear base coat. I think it got really good coverage and has the perfect amount of glitter. I love how it creates a sort of jelly sandwich, so cute! I will definitely be picking up more of her polishes!

Try It On Tuesday: Real 18K Gold Top Coat

Firstly I want to apologize for being absent for a few days, I've been super busy with my mom. We actually were running around ordering new furniture for my home. When drawers are falling out of your dresser when you pull them a pinch, its time to get new stuff. Haha! So, today I wanted to try out Sephora by O.P.I Real 18K Gold Top Coat!

I've been dying to try this ever since I saw some swatches of it. When my mom surprised me with it, I was ecstatic! I had to put it on immediately.

First of all the close up shot, although a little blurry, looks gorgeous. When it comes to jewelry I usually prefer silver over gold, but this is a new accessory!

I decided to keep it simple and put it on a black base coat. I did two coats of the gold for a little extra sparkle. The flakes are pretty tiny, but I think they still look beautiful. I'm pretty in love with this top coat, I do wish the flakes were a little bigger, but that's not too big of a deal.

Mattifying Rainbow Honey

Awhile back I had done a review on the Rainbow Honey Equestria collection and just loved it! I recently tried mattifying one of the collection and it looked so good that I just had to do the rest. Putting a matte top coat on shows a lot more of the shimmer that is in each of these beautiful polishes. It just further shows you how much time and creativity put into each one.

Pinkie Promise has a gorgeous yellow shimmer that you can now see. I used two coats over Wet 'N Wild Candy-Licious.

Elements Of Magic has this iridescent shimmer. Two coats over Zoya Malia.

The Worst Possible Thing is just so packed with glitter that I can't even tell if there is a shimmer, but its amazing just the same. Two coats over Color Club Who Are You Wearing.

Hoof Wrassle has a bit of a golden yellow shimmer. Two Coats over O.P.I Flit A Bit.

20% Cooler doesn't look like it has a shimmer, but there are so many colored glitters to look at its fantastic. Two coats over Color Club Meet Me At My Chateau.

A Little Kindness has a lovely pink shimmer. Two coats over Ulta Cream OF The Crop.

I loved these polishes before, but mattifying them just furthers my love. I cannot tell you enough how much I love Rainbow Honey!

Quick Indie Thursday!

Lacquer Convention Pop Tart!

The first time I saw a photo of this polish I knew I had to have it. Its a white jelly with millions of rainbow hex glitters. All different colors and sizes, its just like sprinkles on a pop tart.

I used two coats on a clear base coat, it didn't even need a base color. Its so gorgeous because when you layer it, it creates this jelly sandwich effect that makes it look like frosting. So the name is just perfect for it!

Disney Inspiration: Off With Their Heads!

The Queen of Hearts, she's got a royal temper and being queen has definitely gone to her head! I've been wanting to do a manicure featuring her for awhile now, but never did because I was so fearful of attempting the design in the middle of her dress. And this was my first time attempting checkered nails!

There is quite a lot going on with these nails, but they turned out so fun! So, first I painted my thumb and ring finger with Color Club Cadillac Red. I'm thinking of dong a tutorial on the checkers a little later, but I used tape and Deborah Lippmann Edge Of Glory for the black. For my index finger I painted half with O.P.I Flit A Bit and half with Color Club Almost Famous.

I then covered half the nail with tape, cut little tape stripes and made the design and colored all the open spots with black. It was really hard to achieve, but I love how it turned out! My pinky is also Color Club Cadillac Red with a crown I cut out of tape. And finally my middle finger features a heart for her majesty because let's face it, if she were here today she'd be using her middle finger quite a bit.

Flakie Friday: Edge Of Glory & Finger Paints Asylum

Its Flakie Friday! And today I decided to review the Deborah Lippmann  for Gaga's Workshop Edge Of Glory set. I've had this sitting on my shelf since I got it and finally took it down to try on! I also wanted to do a small comparison against Finger Paints Asylum.

First of all the set and box are gorgeous. I love the black base that comes in this set. Its thick so you only really need one coat and its so shiny you'd think you had top coat on it already!

The flakie is a royal blue with orange, but if you turn the nail (as you can see on the edges of  my ring finger) its gold and green. I used two coats and my nails are just bursting with flakes!

This is Finger Paints Asylum on top of the black from the Deborah Lippmann set. I noticed the flakes were similar in color, a dark blue and an orange. The Finger Paints has a lot more orange in it and took three coats to get a good amount of flakies. I'd say they're almost identical!

Guest Post from Britta Rose Nails!

Hey lacquersitas! I'm Britta Rose and I'm new to the nail blogging world. The lovely talented lady behind Pixel's Polish has been awesome enough to let me do a guest post for her blog! She gave me the challenge of creating something inspired by The Incredibles and this is what I came up with. The three gradient nails were done using the sponging gradient method and the other two nails are freehand art which is my favorite kind to do.

For the white base coat of all these nails I used Spoiled Correction Tape. The red is Sally Hansen Cherry Red, the darker orange is Sinful Colors Oh La La, the medium orange is Spoiled Designated Driver, the bright yellow is Sally Hansen Lightening and the black is Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris.
I hope you all enjoyed seeing this as much as I did painting it!

You can visit Britta Rose Nails here!

Disney Inspiration: You've Got To Be Brave

I've had the idea for this manicure in my mind for awhile and was trying to figure out how to create it. I finally decided to just try it and I think it turned out pretty good. The first thing anyone thinks about when they think of Brave or Merida is her wild and gorgeous hair!

I apologize if you can't see the detail of the accent nail, but the camera just didn't want to capture it properly.

For the accent nail I used Sally Hansen Rapid Red for the base. I then used a brush with O.P.I Flit A Bit to make her curls and layered Orly Crush On You to make the red more orange. I used China Glaze Holly-Day as a nice green base. I took my DRK-A nail plate and found a sort of Celtic knot pattern to stamp in Sally Hansen Golden-I.

Indie Thursday: KBShimmer

So while looking around for indie brands and new polishes to swoon over, I came across KBShimmer. And I fell in love with some of their Clique and Circus collection, unfortunately there were two that were about to be retired. I was lucky enough to get my claws on them before the sold out!

From the Clique collection is The Square, a purple jelly with tons and I mean tons of square glitters! I put two coats of it on top of Wet 'N Wild On A Trip. I had no problem with the squares curling or sticking out of my nails! I absolutely love the square glitters and that they're varying colors and sizes.

From the Circus collection is Cotton Candy, a pink jelly with pink hexes, purple squares and blue hexes all in different sizes. I layered it over Wet 'N Wild Candy-licious, two coats for good coverage. The squares did curl the teeniest bit, but they curled inward onto my nails, so it was to my advantage.

I cannot tell you how much I have fallen in love with these two lovely polishes from KBShimmer. I highly suggest you check them out and get some for yourself because they have a great selection and gorgeous glitters!
